One of the first things that come to mind when you think about President Trump is his slogan for his 2016 presidential campaign.
Make America Great Again.
Whether you love it or hate it, the truth is that the slogan stuck. One could even argue that it stuck so well that he won the presidential election.
Of course, it wasn’t the empty slogan by itself that won him the election, but the promises he made to support it. Now he has a new slogan. And once again it’s a slogan that gets all its power from the promises that Trump has made and kept.
The new slogan is taken from his State of the Union address.
In true Trump fashion, the president also touted his accomplishments while looking back on 2017:
“That was one of the greatest years in the history of politics,” said Trump.
“I’ve kept one promise after another and we’re just getting started … Now we’ve fulfilled far more promises than we promised … I call it promises plus.”
Promises plus. It has a very ‘Trumpian’ ring to it. And it’s very true.
The economy is booming, his tax reform bill is now law, he’s cracked down on illegal immigrants, and he killed the individual mandate in Obamacare.
He has rallied love and support for our troops and police officers, where there had recently been a shocking show of disrespect and hatred shown from the Oval Office. And currently, he’s refusing to back down from getting his border wall funded.
True, he has had to compromise to get many of these things done, but he has gotten them done. President Trump has surpassed most expectations of him, and is checking promises off his list left and right.
So if his first year is to be any indication, we can all bet he will continue to live out his new slogan, Promises Plus.
