The never-ending investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election has dominated mainstream media headlines for about a year now, and there are still no signs that the probe will be wrapping up anytime soon.
All along the way, there have been a ton of clues that suggest something seriously doesn’t smell right with how the probe is being conducted, let alone how it jetted to the top of the priority list in the first place.
A wave of clues have emerged in recent weeks, and it’s beginning to seem that the house of cards that is the Russia probe is teetering dangerously close to crashing down.
Fox News passes along the details of yet another alarming clue.
Ex-national security adviser Susan Rice sent an “unusual email” to herself the day President Trump was sworn into office documenting former President Barack Obama’s guidance at a high-level meeting about how law enforcement should investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential race, two Republican senators said Monday …
Rice’s email opens up a ton of reasonable questions as to the actual motivations of the investigation itself.
In addition, it points to a previously undisclosed meeting that took place among top brass weeks before the whispers of alleged collusion started making the rounds in the mainstream press.
According to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Sen. Lindsey Graham, the partially unclassified email was sent by Rice on Jan. 20, 2017 — and appears to document a Jan. 5 meeting that included Obama, then-FBI Director James Comey, then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, then-Vice President Joe Biden and Rice.
In the email, Obama’s national security adviser wrote: “President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities ‘by the book.'”
Hmmm. So the same fired FBI director that sat in front of Congress like a deer in the headlights and claimed that he had shared all material information in regards to the Russia probe was at this meeting?
And he didn’t find this to be important enough to share with the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence?
Similar to the peeling back of an onion, the more and more layers of this probe that get brought to light, the more it stinks.
The epic waste of time that is the Trump-Russia investigation needs to be brought to a close once and for all.
Once that comes to pass, there’s a whole lot of other stuff for Congress to dig into as they attempt to restore the faith of the American voters that have been taken along for a completely unnecessary ride.
