Federal Judge Punishes Iran For 9/11 With A Godsend Verdict For Victim’s Families

It has been almost twenty years since the horrifying events of September 11.

But the pain felt by the many victims’ families is still very real. Almost 3,000 Americans were killed by terrorists on that dark day and some of their loved ones still seek justice.

The main culprit behind the attacks, Osama bin Laden, has been dealt with. However, there were many others responsible for what occurred on 9/11.

For instance, those men who hijacked the planes got help and training, and many now know that Iran—a state sponsor of terrorism—provided assistance and training.

Yet, after all this time, Iran has not been held accountable. In fact, President Obama rewarded the country with billions of dollars, if you can believe that.

But now a judge has ruled against the rogue nation, bringing some relief to families, and scoring a big victory for peace in the U.S.

From Western Journal:

A New York federal judge ruled Tuesday in favor of a lawsuit filed by the families of 9/11 victims, ordering Iran to pay billions of dollars in damages to the parents, spouses, siblings and children of over 1,000 victims of the attacks, ABC News reported.

The lawsuit, filed in 2004, accused Iran of providing ‘assistance, including training, to the 9/11 hijackers.’

It was initially barred from proceeding because of limitations imposed on the ability of U.S. courts to rule against foreign governments…

Although Iran may never pay, ‘the order does make the families eligible to collect from a small fund of seized Iranian assets that has been used in the past to compensate families of victims of Hezbollah attacks and other violence attributed to Iran.'”

Well, that’s something, right?

It’s important to note that the lawsuit was filed way back in 2004 but at the time, U.S. courts weren’t allowed to rule against foreign nations.

Thankfully, Congress passed the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act in 2016. It almost didn’t pass because Obama vetoed it but Congress pushed forward and overruled his veto.

Hmm, seems like Obama’s been working very hard to protect Iran. Odd, considering they hate America…

The ruling portions $12,500,000 per spouse, $8,500,000 per parent, $8,500,000 per child and $4,250,00 per sibling of victims. It easily amounts to billions of dollars.

Of course, the nation that chants “Death to America” is not willing to pay that hefty sum but this still sends a very clear message.

The larger victory is symbolic; it brings some sense of justice to the many people impacted by 9/11: The thousands of Americans who lost loved ones, due to unmitigated evil.

In the end, the only question we are left asking is, why did it take so long? And why did past administrations work against this…?
